These ads are very convincing. They clearly say what they are all about and gets you to feel how they feel. They really caught my attention and i would like to get invovled with more issues that go on in our world. They all have a similar purpose and similar ways to get your attention, yet each ad has its own flair.
To write love on her arms ad gets with all the videos. They dont give you a full definition of what they are but tell you thier motivation and show videos that help prove thier cause. And the t-shirts they sell is is am easy way that we all can get invovled with this cause.
The RAINN ad get me interested from thier acronym first. Acronyms are a sure fire way to get people's attention. Then came thier stat that every 2 minutes someone is sexually assaultes. Statistics really show people how pressing an issue is and how real it is because anyone you know could be hinding that they got sexually abused. They did such a good job because i did not even realize that they had celebrity endorsers until the third time i looked at the page.
The KIVA loans ad was very different then any other ad ive seen. It said 100% of what they are all about. They told you how your donation works and simplified with the arrow diagram. Another thing that woulg get people to donate is that it is really an investment and not a donation. You get your money back after a certain time period. That is very intringuing to people who like to help out but cant do it financially because you eventually recieve your donation back. And everyone likes to recieve money.

human traffic
I dont have a big emotional impact after watching this video. Other topics have hit me harder. Yeah it does suck that these kids get taken away and then sold as sex instruments. I am in no way advocating human sex trafficikng but i dont feel the emotional distatse as i did the other videos. It is definately a terrible thing that these kids are probably taken against their wills and are sold and i cant comprehend what type of sicko does it take to have sex with a kid. But the thing is we live in a world that is so corrupt that stuff like that goes on everyday. A kid is being mistreated and violated every single day. If given a general concensus it would probably be 100% wrong, immoral, bad( put whatever synonym with bad) to have sex with a kid, but that wont stop the people that do corrupt actions of the sort. I do not sympathize with the people that do those things. But shit like that happens all the time. I just remembered that a guy that graduated high school with my brother got arrested for like child sex behavior. It was like one of those to cacth a predator type things. It is wierd because over the summer i saw him every day working at the starbucks in the library. He did not seem like the kid who would do something like that but he did. Shit like this happens all the time and there is nothing we can do to change it. As long as there are corrupt people in the world that will immoral actions there is no hope for a beter world.

wiki contest
My 1st place is Arnold C. because i really enjoyed the poker talk. I like poker also and agree with his beliefs about poker. He obviously enjoys movies like me. I liked the dark backround.
My 2nd place is Evio J. because he really has a plan to make his dreams come true. He likes sports like me but knows that there is something else in life except sports. He is also funny. the videos were humerous.
My 3rd place is Bryan M. because his page popped in my eyes. the bright colors gave the page a sense of fun. I think that it is cool that he dances with a weapon. That is really exciting.

song analysis
The person i chose is michael from section U1S. His strong points derive from the fact that he really likes the song and is passionate about the song. He states that there are more points to the song then just standing up against " the Man" but also about freedom of speech. He makes a claims of definition when he makes an interpretation of several lines in the song. He is also historically correct when he mentions the beginning of the explicit language stickers that the government put to try to disgrace music in the 1980's, which actually helped the music bacome popular. His weakness is that the analysis was very short. I feel he could have put more into the analysis such as giving a really brief history. Like when the song came out, what album was it one, and how far did it go on the Billboard Charts.
If i were to give him a grade i would say B- because he made good points, but it was really short.

To pull up or Not to pull up
First of all i would say that this a stupid opinion for the Senate to be addressing. Let's not worry about the war in iraq or how we close to a recession. Let's care for drugs in sports and sagging pants. How can we worry about insignificant things when clearly there are more important issues on the agenda. Lets say that this lawgets passed. How are they going to police sagging pants? Is there going to be a police officers everyday in schools all day long just so they can look out for sagging pants. Will they fine minors less then they would other 18+ years old just because there younger? What about outside the schools. Are there going to be cops at malls, shopping centers, movie theaters, restuarants, etc... The only place that this law should take affect if it gets passed in schools. Because businesses and other types of jobs should regulate themselves. What other profession is at there that you can where whatever you want. If you work at Publix you know you have to wear docker style pants, a Publix polo, and some type of apron depending on your specific depatrment. The only reason i can think off why this law should take place in schools because it could take away someone's else right to learn. The only way you lose your rights is if you infringe yourself against someone else's rights.
As for uniforms in schools making it a better learning enviroment-that a big bag of B.S. I went to Florida Christian School all my life and thats not because they had uniforms. Once i got to the age where i can take responcibility for my actions around 6th grade that is where all the problems startes with my classmates. We had all types of uniform rules. Tuck in the shirt, wear a belt, has to be a regulated FCS shirt and pants from AAuniform. I broke the rules hundreds of times. Boys would buy a size bigger so the uniform would be loose and the girls would buy a size smaller so the uniform would be tight. Kids would always get a talking to if there clothes didnot it right. Kids did not care because most of them had some type or clothing issue. At some point it was cool to show off your underwear. I remember in 10th grade me and my friens alex would always make fun bets of what color or pattern this one's girl underwear was.
All in all i think this i a stupid proposal and people instinctivily know where they can and where they can't have sagging pants.

messed up !
I went to a private school all my life so i dont know much about the FCAT or other standarized test, but i did have to do one. I had to do the Standard Achievement Test from about 5k-11th grade. It is similar to other standarized test but without the consequences or rewards. I like the fact of standarized test, but it should be standard. Meaning their should be one test per grade that the individual state comes up with. Maybe the NCLB law should be a state law and not a national law.
It is stupid to try to compare the grades of kids from the grades of kids before them. Each years results should have the improvement of the child's learning with an average of each subjects score to see what their stronger and weaker subjets are. Kids dont learn the same things every year so why should they be compared. Also if a school gets a bad score on a standarized test they should not be punished. Kids need to learn, but how can they with less resources every year if they happen to fail. What can we expect these kids to become in their adulthood. If we give up on them now, they will give up on us later.
What is up with those incompletes? It is not the nations responcibility to come up with a grading scale. It is the parents responcibility to encourage the kid in school. With an incomplete parents cant tell how much help their child needs. Do they have a C and need a little help or do they have an F and need a lot of help.

We have enough
I am very disturbed by the video. Not so much about our government keeping secrets nor about our society getting to caught up in the glamour of worldly obsessions and desires. The government, any government body in fact, has lied and kept secrets from their citizens. That is how the world has always been ruled. Kings and dictators keep secrets their own personal gain. What makes America different is that we have the right to choose our officials, choose our laws, and amend any law that is outdated and shows negative results. As for society becoming more worldlier, obviously that is going to happen. As technology grows there will always be something new that people will want to get. What is so wrong about being entertained. What else will we do with our lives? Become mindless robots that just work all day. Life would be boring and unadventurous. I'm going to live my life however the hell i want to. I was perturbed that they believe that the media can control us and manipulate us into believing so-called false events. How can they say that 9/11 was a lie? Are they Stupid? How can they tells us that 9/11 was a lie when i saw the second plane crash into the building and when a classmate of mine's father was outside the building when the planes crashed. If it was a lie where are the people who died? and where our soldiers who died overseas? Are they on a deserted island never to be found. I'm not saying America is perfect cause we are no way so,but if we can sit around and argue about how the media controls or manipulates society then we are doing pretty good compared to other countries in the world.

1st blog ever
Hello, my name is Adam do Amaral and this will be my first blog entry ever. I have never kept a journal or any other kind of book in which I wrote my feelings. To find out that I had to keep a online blog as a journal scares me a little. Journals are meant to be kept secret, so the thought that everyone can see my thoughts, see what I'm going through, but not actually know me freaks me out.
It is really hard for me to write down my feelings especially when the journals are assignments and not of my own accord. It may be different to write blogs if I did them for fun but for entries to be mandatory and to be evaluated. How does the professor grade? What does she think of it? Many questions can arise and even more when dealing with my classmates. What are they thinking of me? Am I weird, stupid, cool, funny etc... Do they like my thoughts or hate my thoughts? Is anyone going through a similar situation as me?
As of right now I am scared shitless in opening myself to the world or atleast the class in such a way as the Internet. It takes a lot of time for me to open up. But as the class continues I feel I can reveal the true me to the world.
